Honor Dr Martin Luther King Jr

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero of the civil rights movement. He was born on January 15, 1929. He was a preacher as well as an activist leader. Following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, he used nonviolent methods to achieve his objectives.

Dr. King was a Baptist minister, but he soon became well-known as a civil rights activist. He was the driving force behind the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott. He was also one of the founders of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which was established in 1957. Dr. King was also one of the leaders of the 1963 March on Washington. This is where he delivered his famous I Have a Dream" speech. During this speech, he talked about his vision of a color blind society based on American values.

In 1964, Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He was the youngest person to receive it. Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his we efforts at eliminating racial segregation and racial discrimination by means of civil disobedience and other nonviolent methods. Just before he died in 1968, he was also campaigning to end the Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. After his death, he was named the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1997. In 2004, he was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal.
